Museum Visitor Services – Museum Services Associate (PT)

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center is an exhibit and event space intended to attract a variety of public and private audiences. Customer service and satisfaction is our highest priority. Under the supervision of the Museum Services Manager, the incumbent is responsible for ticket & membership sales, information desk, data entry, answering telephones, inventory and assisting visitors as assigned. Must have an outgoing/engaging, pleasant and friendly demeanor. Must be a self-starter and able to work at a fast pace for several hours. A minimum of one (1) year experience in high-volume customer service and/or experience in museum environment preferred. Knowledge and living experience of North American Native history and culture, particularly of the Northeast is preferred. Must be familiar with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be comfortable speaking about the museum exhibits to groups of patrons. Previous money handling preferred. Math test required. This position requires flexibility in the work schedule which includes holidays, weekends, evening and irregular days off. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee must be able to lift and/or move more than 35 pounds.
